The journey that lead me to the observations I will share shortly began after I broke my ankle almost two years ago.

For months I could barely walk at all and subsequently ordered lots of pizza delivery and put on lots of weight.

After about 4 months I started walking at a local park. 25 yards, then 50 yards, slowly working my way up.

My goal: to heal my ankle, but I also needed to lose weight.

Walking became my exercise of choice.

There are many benefits of walking, but I’d like to discuss walking as it pertains to exercise — fitness and something I found confusing.

My focus is on,

  • Fat Burn
  • Cardio
  • Calories Burned

If you do not have one, I suggest you buy something along the lines of a FitBit.

My journey and my confusion

Eventually I recovered enough to start paying more attention to my number of steps. I keep track of this on my FitBit while walking.

It is said you should get 10,000 steps per day.
