I see people saying things like “ you’re never too old”. They are missing the point.
Once we hit young 60’s, there are two generations of talented, cheaper people behind us. Competing for our jobs.
Although ageism is not legal, it’s there. Until we can retire, for me 67.5, we are potentially looking at job loss or lower paying job.
It’s not a matter of learning something new at x age, we can and are doing it. I can develop in React, node, AWS lambda, API Gateway, Sql Server, PostgreSQL; learning about EventBridge, creating data lakes, etc.
It’s just plain competition with two generations.
