I guess you are too young to remember that the concept of pension disappeared. Many, raising you young ones, while 401K and housing market crashed around 2008. These were not great times but we managed to keep you fed and a roof over your head. You probably don’t remember the recession that caused many tech and jobs to disappear. Please do research.
