I don’t disagree with anything you said. I just think you over simplified it. I walk 40–60 minutes each day. You mentioned cardio. I can’t get into cardio unless I’m walking really really fast. It’s still good, but not cardio. On the weekends I hike which is cardio.
For weight loss. A person needs to focus on calories burned per minute doing various things. When I walk it’s usually 8–9 calories per minute. Hiking 9–10. Cold and heat can change that.
