I did. I read it twice. Today the word freelance programmer is big but when I created my business you were just self-employed. This was in 1990. Back then and until now it was always trying to get projects and be diverse by doing training, teaching, writing, whatever. Income was and can be inconsistent. Always having to keep up to date with changing technology. Learning and not getting paid for it. I just don’t see how what you are describing is all that different. I agree 50K a year is not much but you said you had a six figure income and made it sound like that’s not enough.
